  • Any help with my municipal water analysis report - what to do?

    Hi all,

I'm just starting up a new microbrewery and have got everything set up pretty nicely, one thing I'm not 100% sure on is the water, and whether or not I should make any water adjustments etc. I have read about water in a few different brewing books and it seems as though most authors tend towards less water adjustment rather than more, if possible. So I was wondering if you guys could take a look at this most recent water report for the water that comes into my brewery - would you tweak it at all, and if so, how? I'll be brewing mostly light to mid colour ales. And the occasional dark beer.

Ask for a more comprehensive report.

Key levels your looking for are Chloride, Sulphide, Magnesium, Calcium, Sodium. You have the alkalinity which looks good for light styles.

Once you have a better report you can try the Bru'n Water webpage they have a nice spread sheet for water adjustment.

Simpler is better for me, try to match styles to your water rather than the other way.
