    Goliad Brewing Company is looking for a Head Brewer that has a passion for craft brews, thinks outside-the-box, is self-motivated, takes initiative, and enjoys working within a team based atmosphere. This position will be responsible for leading Goliad Brewing Company’s new production facility. This includes responsibility for all brewing operations, quality control, safety and compliance, and inventory. In the future, the head brewer may be overseeing a small staff to assist with the operations of the new facility.

    The right person will become part of the Goliad team that will give input, formulate recipes, and general Head Brewer duties. We require experience in the brewing process to meet the expectations needed to run a 30BBL brew-house (from grain to packaging). Our Head Brewer will also play a pivotal role in the planning, layout of equipment, and expansions of Goliad Brewing Company.

    Goliad Brewing Company is focused on making quality craft and traditional ales. The Head Brewer will focus on running the 30 BBL brew house, while developing new recipes on the breweries pilot system.



    Job Description
    Qualifications:

    •A minimum of 3 years of professional experience brewing on a commercial system (education may be substituted for employment, year for year)
    •Packaging experience – racking and bottling
    •Able to lift 55 lbs. and move at least 165 lbs., and work in hot and cold environments
    •Excellent time management, prioritization, and task scheduling skills
    •Be self-directed and work effectively independently
    •Able to use Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and basic computer software
    •Organized and detail oriented
    •Be resourceful and adaptive
    •Have the desire to learn and teach about brewing
    •Technical/mechanical expertise troubleshooting and fixing brewing and bottling equipment is a plus (but will train the right person to develop these skills)

    Responsibilities:

    •Maintain a safe and regulatory compliant work environment
    •Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all equipment, tanks, and work areas
    •Operate all aspects of the brewing facility – brewery, cellar, and grain handling
    •Maintain brew sheets, inventory, and governmental compliance paperwork
    •Participate in beer festivals and events
    •Evaluate and monitor beer and raw materials
    •Keep inventory of raw materials and beer
    •Problem solve and troubleshoot, and get assistance when needed
    •Work and communicate well with other staff, customers, and outside parties
    •Train, supervise, and motivate other staff
    •Develop new beer recipes, and maintain the quality of our current beer recipes
    •Perform other tasks as assigned (there is nothing that the owners would have an employee do that they would not do themselves)

    This is a full-time salaried position that allows for a flexible schedule. Incentives are available for this position when agreed achieved goals are met.

    Goliad is located in south central Texas (just an hour drive from the Gulf Coast). It is a community surrounded by ranching, agriculture, and significant Texas historic culture. There’s lots of sunshine, and recreation actives are available year-round. According to the most recent figures, the population is a little over 7,000.

    The brewery uses its own certified public well for brewing and is nestled on approximately 50 acres of land which include 3 ponds, a Pecan orchard, gorgeous oaks and close to the Texas Gulf Coast.
