About the Job
This position performs all the duties of a Packaging Technician and has added responsibilities for the packaging crew members including safety, quality, performance and teamwork. The packaging lead will report to the Plant Manager.
Responsibilities
• Essential Functions & Duties
o Train packaging technicians on the proper use, handling, and safety procedures of the equipment and machinery.
o Maintains, repairs, and operates all aspects and functionality of the breweries packaging equipment.
o Perform daily clean-up and organization of the maintenance area, tools, and supplies.
o Analyze malfunctions in the packaging area and make continuous improvements when needed.
o Evaluate and adjust bottling procedures as necessary.
o Ensures packaging team members adheres to all safety regulations, including the proper wear and usage of PPE, and Standard Operation Procedures.
o Promote Ska Brewing Company products and culture.
• Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
o High School Diploma or equivalent, brewing related coursework preferred
o At minimum, two (2) years of relevant experience, preferably on can lines, bottling lines, and keg lines including but not limited to tray former, de-palletizer, filler, ink coders, rotary seaming, level inspectors, ring applicator, and off pack equipment.
o Demonstrated working knowledge of mechanical systems related to packaging processes, equipment, and machinery.
o Strong mechanical aptitude for equipment repairs and trouble shooting.
o Experience working in full production brewery and packaging facility preferred.
o Works well independently and cooperatively with others.
o PLC trouble shooting and electrical knowledge preferred
• Physical Requirements
o Ability to lift 55lbs
o Ability to lift and move kegs weighing 165lbs.
o Climb stairs, ladders, sloop, bend, stand, and walk 75% of the workday.
