    About the Opportunity

    We are accepting applications for the Clear Malt Base/Tea Technician position in our Cincinnati brewery. The work environment is fast-paced, furious, and high-energy. You'll be working with an award-winning team with an impressive track record.

    The Clear Malt Base/Tea Technician will initially be responsible for developing an understanding of the CMB, Cider and Tea mixing processes. Upon completing training the successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operation and manufacture of SABC products within the Brewing Department. This position is primarily responsible for Clear Malt Base/Tea operations, which includes CMB brewed fermentations, CMB syrup fermentations, CMB processing/loadout, ISEP Operations, and mixing of final Tea and Cider product lines. This position is also jointly responsible for the CMB/Tea Sensory evaluation in coordination with Sensory lead.



    Ingredients To Be A Successful Clear Malt Base/Tea Technician



    Expectations for processes:

    •General – Coordinate and ensure the proper receipt, storage and use of specified materials for addition into the brewed CMB/Tea production. This includes proper inventory management in terms of storage guidelines and on hand inventory.
    •CMB brewed fermentations - deliver 100% in spec liquid to fermentation utilizing CMB wort produced in the Brewhouse and necessary specified materials. Monitor and maintain the fermentation to deliver in spec liquid. Ensure fermentation cycles follow specified temperature profiles per recipe. Communicate and document changes in process parameters and raw materials.
    •CMB syrup fermentations - deliver 100% in spec liquid to fermentation utilizing the necessary specified materials. Monitor and maintain the fermentation to deliver in spec liquid. Ensure fermentation cycles follow specified temperature profiles per recipe. Communicate and document changes in process parameters and raw materials.
    •CMB Processing – Coordinate the processing of CMB through centrifuge, carbon treatment and filtration operations. This will also include CMB loadout, data management and general communication with customers.
    •ISEP Operations - Deliver 100% in spec liquid from the ISEP to storage tanks for shipment to contract partners and/or use for mixing of final Tea products.
    •Mixing of Tea products - Deliver 100% in spec liquid on time, in order to meet the production schedules.
    •Mixing of Cider products – Deliver 100% in spec liquid, on time, to Cold Processing in order to meet the production schedules.


    Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:



    •This is a working, hands-on, position. The successful candidate will need to have a flexible schedule that could include nights, weekends and some holidays.
    •Must be able to work in a team oriented and “Safety First” environment. Update, maintain and develop technical procedures for all process steps. Develop verifiable training records for each employee assigned to your area of responsibility. Observe workers and evaluate job activities to determine correct use of proper process procedures to meet quality standards.
    •Manage the use of personnel to meet required GMPs in all areas of the department. Develop documented routines for cleaning and maintaining work areas within GMP regulations.
    •Update, maintain and develop CIP/cleaning procedures for all process equipment, pumps, valves, process lines and associated systems. Ensure all processing systems and pieces of equipment are maintained in the required level of sanitation.


    To Be Mixed With:

    •Brewing experience is required.
    •Formal education in Brewing Science, Food Science and Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or Engineering is a plus.
    •Minimum of two (2) years experience in the brewing/manufacturing industry.
    •Proven ability to manage people and projects concurrently.
    •Ability to be flexible and shift priorities in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment.
    •Proven analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
    •Self-starter, proactive.
    •Proven conflict resolution skills; be able to think through relatively complex issues and arrive at well-thought conclusions.
    •Demonstrated ability to be successful in a collaborative team environment.
    •Highly effective multi-tasker; resourceful with a “get-it-done, can-do” attitude.
    •Able to impact and effect positive change with a flexible, open-minded, positive approach.
    •Competent in using Microsoft Office, including MS Work, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Access.
