    About the Opportunity


    The Packaging Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing all packaging operations. This will include supervising and training temporary packaging employees, running bottling and racking operations, and managing inventory for packaging materials and finished product. The person will ensure the packaging staff follows safety and sanitary procedures and policies. Responsibilities will also include conducting basic quality checks, general maintenance of equipment, and ensuring the final product, including the beer and all necessary packaging materials, is of the highest quality.

    Position is located in Boston, MA and reports to the Product Development Manager.




    Ingredients To Be A Successful Packaging Supervisor



    •Supervise packaging employees (including temps)
    1.Interviewing, selecting, and training employees
    2.Planning the work
    3.Setting pay rates and hours of work
    4.Appraising productivity, handling complaints, or disciplining employees
    5.Determining work techniques
    6.Providing for safety and security of the workplace
    •Serve as lead operator for packaging line and kegging line
    •Handle setup and cleanup of packaging & kegging operations
    •Manage basic maintenance of packaging equipment
    ◦Includes inspection and replacement of any broken or worn parts and or systems, greasing machine parts, conducting routine preventative maintenance, etc.
    •Ensure product quality meets company and customer requirements
    •Conduct basic quality checks
    •Oversee labeling of beer/cases
    •Participate in continual development and revision of standard operating procedures within the packaging area
    •Manage packaging materials inventory, organization, and cleanliness (includes empty glass, cases, corks, etc. needed for production)
    •Order packaging materials JIT
    •Serve as a facilities sanitation team member
    •Ensure GMP program exceeds expectations
    •Manage finished beer inventory
    •Communicate effectively with all employees and a variety of external constituents and vendors
    •Effectively manage manpower to meet production requirements
    •Ensure that continuous process improvement techniques are being utilized to sustain daily operational improvement
    •Promote safety and a safe work environment
    •Ensure the development and deployment of a safe and healthy work environment including appropriate training in safety practices



    To Be Mixed With:



    •BS in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other scientific-related discipline
    •Proven ability to supervise and lead a team
    •Ability to safely operate job-related equipment
    •Understanding of packaging process and GMP for food manufacturing
    •Demonstrated leadership experience in manufacturing environment
    •Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to analyze information to make process improvements
    •Effective verbal & written communication skills and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    •Interest in hands-on work
    •Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
