    Position: QA/QC Lab Technician
    Date: September 2013
    Reports to: QA/QC Manager


    We are a local, family-run and totally DIY company. We brew interesting, award winning, tasty beers using the highest quality, all natural ingredients like certified organic hops & malts and local spring water. We have names, not titles and we would like you to join our team! We are currently searching for a QA/QC Lab Technician for a full-time salaried position.

    Overview:

    The candidate chosen for this position will dedicate their work week to daily lab procedures and QA/QC. Requiring a high level of attention to detail, the Quality Control Technician is responsible for strictly adhering to the organization's quality assurance policies, and identifying defects and or production errors in order to prevent these materials from entering the supply chain. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.


    Responsibilities:

    • This job will involve but may not be limited to:
    o lab sample collection and analysis
    o yeast management
    o sensory analysis
    o data entry
    o report writing
    • Perform internal QA audits that are compliant with corporate policies, practices, and procedures.
    • Assist with the maintenance of QA monitoring programs, including audits, controls, and other qualifiers.
    • Support new product development and continuous improvement
    • Comply with Company QA programs for monitoring supplier quality, including audits, controls, and other qualifiers.
    • Promote and advocate quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization.
    • Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation.
    • Adopt and incorporate quality methods into their work.
    • Create and maintain QA control documentation.


    Required Skills/Experience:

    The ideal candidate will possess the following strengths to meet the challenge of this position;
    • Post-Secondary Education in a relevant field (chemistry, microbiology)
    • Minimum 2 years of direct work experience with QA/QC systems, regulations, guidelines, and associated standards.
    • Prior experience in a laboratory is an asset
    • Dedicated to the preservation and advancement of quality objectives
    • Strong knowledge of brewing & fermentation
    • Familiar with brewing microbiology
    • Strong organizational and administrative skills
    • Practical experience with risk management, testing, capability studies, and control plans.
    • Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents.
    • Able to develop, review, and maintain metrics and quality audits.
    • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
    • Exceptional communication skills – both verbal and written, bilingualism (En/Fr) an asset
    • Meticulous with great attention to detail and an analytical thinker.
    • Able to interface directly with cross-functional teams.
    • Exceptional time management skills
    • Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Strong computer skills desirable, experience with Excel & MS Office


    Working Conditions

    • Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
    • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
    • Overtime as required.
