    The following outlines the Job Description for the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild Executive Director.     ARIZONA CRAFT BREWERS GUILD

    JOB TITLE – Executive Director

    REPORTS TO – Board of Directors

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    This newly created position is designed to continue the awareness and growth of Arizona beer and help lead the Guild to the next level. The Executive Director will implement the structure, process and growth plans necessary to promote Arizona brewed beer, protect the industry and build the community of Arizona craft brewers. The Executive is responsible for managing all elements of the Guild including (future) staff, fundraising, membership, financial, media and marketing, support of legislative activity and administrative duties. This position requires passion for the craft beer industry, a fast-paced environment, coordinating many different concurrent projects and working as part of a team.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Maintain and manage a full-time operational office of the Guild
    • Report to the Board of Directors as directed
    o Will make daily and/or weekly update to the Board of Directors, as necessary
    o Will make quarterly presentation to Board of Directors
    o Will provide the Guild Treasurer with access to the books and accounts to that the latter can fulfill his/her fiduciary responsibilities.
    • Responsible for management and development of future Guild staff. There is no current staff, and the Executive Director will rely on part-time subcontractors to perform certain tasks.
    • Administrative
    o Oversight of tax returns and various accounting/filing requirements
    o Maintain Guild records and files
    o Maintain and manage Guild insurance and legal needs
    o Responsible for all contracts with independent contractors and vendors
    • Financial
    o Oversee financial reports (cash flow, balance sheet, P&L, etc.) and report to the Treasurer on a monthly basis
    o Develop with the Directors the annual budget and manage the approved budget
    o Meet revenue goals, manage A/R and A/P
    • Membership
    o Responsible for maintaining accurate and current membership lists
    o Responsible for growing all levels of membership
    o Develop and implement a retail and consumer enthusiasts membership program aka ABLE
    o Initiate, develop and implement fundraising programs & solicit sponsorships for events and festivals
    o Regular outreach to membership including meetings and phone calls (as needed) and online Forum (weekly)
    o Develop new and innovative membership benefits
    o Field phone calls from membership, media and other



    • Support Political Affairs
    o Support and assist in execution of political awareness campaign including legislator and policymaker outreach, beer tastings and informational events at the state Capitol
    o Develop programs, documents and initiatives that support political affairs mission
    • Media
    o Write and distribute press releases as needed
    o Create media and promotional materials
    o Develop, implement and manage a social media program
    o Oversee and manage web site. Update content monthly. Develop new web site content on quarterly basis.
    • Events
    o Member events: Coordinate and execute all elements of various Guild events including quarterly general meetings, workshops and regional meetings
    o Fundraising events: Manage existing and future beer festivals, beer and food festival, etc. Additionally, work with regional guilds to possibly develop smaller regional events.
    o Political contact events: create a series of regular meeting events that entice state legislators to get together with craft brewers such as a monthly happy hour, an annual “Hill Climb”, beer and food dinners for staffers, etc.
    • Industry Development
    o Interface with economic development opportunities
    o Interface with regional and state guilds
    • Arizona Beer Lovers & Enthusiasts (A.B.L.E)
    o Executive Director will be responsible for creating and developing a consumer/industry organization which is aimed at linking the states craft beer drinkers with its breweries and beers.
    o ABLE members will be encouraged to identify with Arizona breweries via a program of events such as beer tastings, seasonal and new release events, brewer/member meet and greets, passport programs, and etc.

    CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
    The Guild is seeking a person to be a leader in the Arizona brewing community who will be an articulate and passionate champion for Arizona craft brewers and their beers. The following list of skills are desired:
    • Must be proficient in Social Media/Networking, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Publisher, Excel.
    • Must be able to understand and work with financial reports and create and manage a budget.
    • Must be comfortable and skilled at public speaking.
    • Must possess knowledge of the beer and alcohol industry including a basic understanding of the regulations governing all types of alcohol.
    • Must be adept at networking. Must be comfortable meeting with and engaging with local leaders, policymakers, legislators, state officials.
    • Must be able to sell
    o Need to be creative and enterprising for fundraising efforts.
    o Must have experience creating, maintaining and following through on sales lead programs
    o Must be comfortable and adept at working with brewers, suppliers, retailers, distributors, craft beer enthusiasts and others in the industry to sell membership and association ideals.
    • Experience in event planning and execution
    • Basic level of media experience
    • Will be required to attend various Association events and meetings throughout the state. May be required to travel to occasional seminars and conferences outside the state

    CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
    Valid Driver’s license required.

    QUAILFICATIONS
    Experience working in the craft beer industry. Must be self-motivated, highly organized, detail oriented and demonstrate initiative to create, develop and manage multiple projects. Will need to demonstrate initiative and provide follow-through in all areas of responsibility. Must work cooperatively with the future staff and Board of Directors. Must display excellent verbal and writing skills and be an excellent “people person.” Must also be able to motivate and manage multiple staff employees. Positive and quick learner is a must.
