View Full Version : Packaging Operator at West Sixth Brewing in Lexington, KY

West Sixth is looking for an entry-level position in the brewery.

No prior brewing experience necessary, but if you’re a passionate home brewer or have any brewery volunteer experience, that’s a strong plus. We do require a strong passion for craft beer and we really would prefer be interested in pursuing brewing as a career.

Your primary responsibilities will lie on the packaging side of our business. You’ll run our canning line several times a week, and be kegging our beer on the other days. You’ll clean tanks, move beers, harvest yeast, help with shipping and receiving and be responsible for general cleanliness in the brewery. Finally, if you’re interested, you’ll also be able to participate on the brewing side – contributing to the beers we offer in our experimental series.

In addition to working in the brewery, you’ll also be working on other tasks necessary to help West Sixth run smoothly – including many miscellaneous projects. This could include items like patching the roof, painting, or anything else that comes up. These tasks will be secondary to your responsibilities in the brewery.

There are a couple things we want you to know about this position before you apply. First, the hours are generally going to be around 2pm – 10:00pm Monday – Thursday. Friday is an 8 hour day, but the shift is flexible and can be changed based on your needs. Second, you’re working in a brewery, which is a potentially warm environment, and the work is physical. You’ll need to be able to lift 40 lbs, and be comfortable doing physical work.

That said, we think this has the potentially to be a really great position for the right person. While this is an entry-level position, this is the way to get your foot in the door at West Sixth. If you’re passionate about craft beer, interested in making it your career, but have limited experience, then this job is for you. When we hire, we’re looking for folks who want to be a part of the team long-term. We’re willing to invest in you and grow you into the role you want to be in. At West Sixth, we’re growing rapidly and there will be a ton of opportunities for the right individual to grow, perhaps quite rapidly.

If you’re interested, send us an email letting us know why you’re right for the position along with a resume at jobs@westsixth.com. We’ll start scheduling interviews immediately, so if you’re interested, get an application in ASAP.
