  • In search of Lead Brewer at Carton Brewing

    Carton Brewing is adding a lead brewer to our team. Having completed one expansion, we are entering our third year of production, and are looking for the right brewer to be part of our growing business. Our brewery is located in Atlantic Highlands New Jersey, the gateway to the Jersey Shore. Beaches, fishing, mountain biking, and hiking are all minutes from the brewery. Philadelphia is a one hour drive, and New York City is a 45-minute ferry ride away.

    A professional degree from an accredited brewing program and a minimum of 4 years of experience in a commercial production brewery or high-volume brewpub is required.


    The ideal candidate will be able to:
    • Ensure the proper training and continued development of all new cellar & brewhouse personnel.

    • Provide weekly assistance to maintain and document accurate inventories of raw materials and other process aids, and order raw materials as needed.

    • Demonstrate leadership to ensure an always clean, organized and sanitary brewhouse and cellar.

    • Continuously work to improve the quality of Carton's processes, efficiencies, and data collection/documentation.

    • Work with entire production team to ensure clear, effective communication throughout each step of the production process.

    • Repeatedly lift up to 55 lbs safely and maneuver keg of up to 165 lbs

    • Participate in Carton’s promotional efforts, including, but not limited to, Brewery Tours, Festivals, Beer Dinners, Tastings and Promotional events.

    in addition this person must have:
    • Strong communication, planning and organizational skills with good team dynamics.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • A solid understanding of all aspects of brewing, cellaring, yeast handling, CIP and sanitizing.

    • A strong mechanical background with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems.

    • A good understanding of Laboratory Operations /Quality Assurance /Quality Control, with working knowledge of chemistry and biology.

    • Experience with logistics and supply chain management.

    • Prior packaging, bottling and racking experience.

    • A strong work ethic and the ability to multitask.

    • Self-motivation and the ability to work alone, as well as the ability to work efficiently as part of a team.

    • Flexibility and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done right.

    • Computer literacy, including facility with spreadsheets and Microsoft Office.


    Compensation will be commensurate with experience and education level.
