  • Phosphoric or Phosphoric/Nitric blend

Hi guys I was just wondering what is everyone else using to clean fermenters and kegs with? Straight phosphoric or or blend with nitric? We are currently using straight phosphoric and I'm wondering if the Nitric blend is more effective at fighting beerstone build up? I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!

Every brewery I have worked at we have used nitric/phosphoric blend. I have had no beerstone problems or rust problem with it. The blend I am using now is acid brite #2 from Birko.

We use Birko UltraNiter with a little X-Puma for our kegs, it makes even those nasty Microstar kegs shine like brand new. A

Nitric is what I prefer. Run it over 130 degrees. Make it a regular monthly cycle for fermentation tanks and a bi-weekly cycle for brite tanks.

        Cheers,
        Alex
