    The Opportunity:

    Devils Backbone Brewing Company is looking for a dependable and experienced Plant Engineer to keep our operations up and running so we can keep churning out award winning beer. This position requires you to be a flexible as you’ll be responsible for the condition of a wide variety of equipment. Our brewery in Lexington, VA is currently a 36,000+ sq. ft. facility, and constantly expanding. You’ll be expected to acquire an intimate knowledge of our facility and fully understand the relationship between the various pieces of equipment.

    As Plant Engineer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Developing and executing high quality preventative maintenance programs on all brewery equipment based on manufacturers’ recommendations to enable scheduled production
    • Performing regular equipment inspections
    • Managing spare parts and maintenance inventory within budget
    • Training machine operators to perform basic daily preventative maintenance actions
    • Tracking maintenance schedules and maintaining records of work performed
    • Troubleshooting malfunctioning equipment in a timely manner
    • Ensuring all equipment condition is in compliance with applicable legal requirements

    Equipment Inventory:

    You will be responsible for maintaining the safe working condition of the following equipment:

    • Pro Chiller glycol chillers
    • Steam boilers (natural gas)
    • CIP systems
    • CO2 and compressed air systems
    • SEW Eurodrives
    • Allen Bradley frequency drives
    • SEW motors
    • Della Toffola DE filter
    • Centrifugal pumps
    • Wayne Automation box shop equipment (case erector, 6-pack erector, top sealer)
    • Standard-Knapp case packer
    • Sentry depalletizer
    • CFT bottle and can filler
    • Alfred Gruber keg filler
    • Conveyors
    • Malt handling equipment
    • Various sensors, valves, flow meters

    The Requirements:

    • Experience in and understanding of manufacturing environments
    • Brewery experience obviously a major plus
    • Demonstrated knowledge of fluid transfer principles, pneumatics, pumps, electrical principles and PLC systems
    • Welding ability preferred
    • Ability to read and follow schematics and diagrams
    • Knowledge of FDA/OSHA regulations
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

    Devils Backbone Brewing Company was founded in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Nelson County, VA.     We currently operate two breweries: the Basecamp Brewpub is a brewery and full service restaurant in Nelson County, VA, about 45 minutes southwest of Charlottesville.
