Senior Accountant
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer

The Opportunity:
Devils Backbone Brewing Company is looking for a business minded and entrepreneurial Senior Accountant to head up our budding accounting department. As one of the fastest growing craft breweries in the country, we face a unique and ever changing set of accounting and financial challenges. This role focuses on our Outpost Production Facility in Lexington, VA, although you may be called in to help out at our Basecamp Brewpub in Nelson County, VA. While management and oversight of our day to day accounting processes is critical, this job also requires a heavy dose of broader analytical thinking. We need an individual capable of digesting a variety of different types of data and drawing actionable conclusions.
Your responsibilities will include, but are definitely not limited to:
• Implement adequate financial cost controls to mitigate financial risks of financial loss or misstatement
• Manage cash flow by ensuring timely collection of accounts receivable and payment of accounts payable
• Help departments develop and track annual budgets
• Prepare monthly financial analysis for management
• Manage month end and year end closing procedures
• Ensure accuracy of all general ledger accounts
• Audit monthly excise tax statements and other regulatory financial filings
• Implement documentation system in compliance with federal and state alcohol control regulations
• Prepare additional reports for management as requested
• Coordinate physical inventory counts
• Assist in the development of capital budgets
The Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree, accounting or economics focus preferred but not required
• At least 3 years of accounting or financial analysis experience, with management experience preferred
• CPA Preferred

It is located in Lexington, VA, an idyllic Shenandoah Valley town and an amazingly pleasant place to live and work. We’re an hour from Charlottesville, Roanoke and our Base Camp in Nelson County. Richmond and Washington DC are within easy reach. Amazing Blue Ridge Mountain hiking and biking trails are right outside our door, not to mention rivers for kayaking or tubing and a great local music scene.
