Head brewer required
Our company UMAMI hospitality is in the process of setting up a 5 hl pub brewery in Mumbai, India. We are looking for a dedicated person that is willing to put in the work to make great beer and has excellent follow through to ensure that the clients and store are well supplied.
Position Requirements:
- Move to Mumbai, India for a minimum period of 1 year.
- 3+ years as a professional brewer
- Beginning to end brewing process
- Industry education is preferred but not required.
- Represent brand at tastings and events
- Manage raw ingredient inventories, Cost of goods, and Contract/Forecast.
- Development of better brew practices with the goal of making great consistent product efficiently.
- Ability to train staff and supervise team
-Must have a solid understanding of all aspects of brewing, cellaring, yeast handling, CIP and sanitizing.
- Must have a strong mechanical background with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems.
- Should have inventory management experience; ordering raw materials and parts, recording and monitoring raw materials and parts in house.
- Proven brewery knowledge including chemistry and biology.
- Knowledge of the brewing system to provide suggestions for expansion / willingness to research and implement new projects and procedures
- Excellent attitude
- Attention to detail
- Ability to adapt to new systems
- Resourcefulness in solving problems that arise
- Passion for brewing
Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:
- ability to work in wet environment with humidity, steam, and heat or cold
- ability to climb stairs repeatedly and often
- ability to bend, twist, kneel, etc.
- hours a day ability to -60 pounds to shoulder height and move 175 pounds safely
Qualified Candidates will possess the following:
- outgoing personality
- strong people skills and willingness to interact with the public
- ability to work variable hours and some weekends
- working to high quality standards with or without direct supervision
- an aptitude for trouble shooting basic mechanical and electrical systems
- strong problem solving skills
- Experience with start up brewery is a huge plus
Our company shall provide you with compensation; visa, airfare, accommodation, meals and an opportunity explore India. As this is our first brewpub there are great opportunities for growth and development and we shall be looking to set up another 2 additional units in the coming year.
