    Summary
    Shmaltz Brewing Company seeks a talented consultant with extensive experience in craft brewery management and operations. Shmaltz would like to develop an aggressive growth strategy that increases annual production two to four times over the next 3 years, while increasing product margins and brand awareness. The brewery is currently brewing and building capacity for our internal house brands with future opportunity for contract brewing for others. The consultant will work with and report to the owner and founder, Jeremy Cowan, and work with the upper management team to assist in the development and implementation of new systems which increase efficiencies and grow the operation. This consultant is likely to be hired mid Q1 2014 with a contract term of 90-120 days with plan for ongoing follow-up and maintenance.

    Founded in 1996 by sole proprietor, Jeremy Cowan, Shmaltz Brewing Company was ranked in 2013 as one of the "Top 100 Brewers in the World" by RateBeer.com. After 17 years of being an outspoken cheerleader for contract brewing, Shmaltz recently broke with tradition and opened its own New York State production brewery in Clifton Park, NY. Shmaltz's new home boasts a 50-barrel brewhouse with 20,000 barrels of annual capacity. In addition to brewing its own He’brew beers, Shmaltz will also contract brew for a select handful of local brewing companies.

    Required Qualifications
    • Shmaltz is seeking a talented individual who knows the challenges and opportunities of the craft brewing industry. Academic and professional background and experience commensurate with running a small craft brewery and increasing operations.
    • Substantive professional background in management, craft brewery operations, and sales and marketing.
    • Experience planning and managing a sales strategy and motivating sales team.
    • Proven record of effective leadership, preferably with cross-functional departments where a primary role was the development and improvement of business systems and processes.
    • Strong communication skills, writing skills, verbal communication, team development/collaboration skills, and the ability to juggle competing priorities.

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Work with Owner/Founder to develop a detailed strategy which grows production, increases sales and revenue while effectively linking all areas of our business including: Production, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Administration and Finance.
