    Around the Bend Beer Co. is a start-up production brewery in Chicago. We are focused on bringing together traditional styles with innovative recipe formulations. We are looking for an experienced sales director to be a key player in growing this new venture. Much will be expected of this individual and (s)he will be compensated accordingly.

    Duties include but are not limited to:
    • Work closely with distributors to develop an effective sales and marketing plan in order to maximize distribution. This includes establishing goals, pricing and programming, developing promotional strategies, monitoring orders, shipments and managing inventory levels. Secure new distribution and successfully launch seasonal products.
    • Develop sales financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating sales requirements, trends, and variances; align monetary resources; develop action plans; measure and analyze results; initiate corrective actions; minimize the impact of variances.
    • Be the leader of the sales team; communicate and enforce values, policies, and procedures; implement recruitment, selection, training, coaching, counseling, disciplinary, and communication programs; plan, monitor, appraise, and review job contributions.
    • As part of the management team:
    o Work closely with production to optimize inventory levels, develop new products and leverage customer feedback.
    o Work closely with marketing to monitor brand performance, evaluate campaigns and ensure that materials are available to support outreach including consumer tastings, and beer dinners.
    • The sales director must embrace the role of brewery ambassador maintaining a presence at key sampling events, communicating our message in the field and finding opportunities to educate at every turn.
    • Must be expert on the dynamics of the on-premise/draft channel of business as well as the off-premise/packaged channel.

    Key Qualifications:
    • 10 years in the biz – that is, sales experience either at a brewery or distributorship/wholesaler; preferably in Chicago
    • Strong knowledge of the local market for craft beer and high level of craft beer product knowledge
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with top-level account decision makers, as well as other stakeholders including wholesalers
    • Ability to work independently with little supervision – driven & self motivated
    • Ability to successfully lead a team and achieve goals
    • Strong work ethic; demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple workstreams
    • A will to win with a strong sense of urgency and commitment to achieving results
    • An assertive yet friendly and confident personality
    • Strong judgment and professional maturity
    • Excellent verbal, analytical, written, and presentation skills
    • Ability and willingness to maintain flexible work schedule – weekend and extended workdays are part of the gig
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable automobile required

    Physical Requirements:
    • Able to frequently lift/move 30 lb cases and occasionally lift and/or move up to 160 lbs kegs.
