  • Assistant Brewer position in Montana.

Philipsburg Brewing Company is looking for an assistant brewer!

    THE TOWN:
Philipsburg, Montana is a town of 800 nestled in the shadow of the Continental Divide. With easy access to hundreds of thousands of acres of wilderness, a superb local ski hill, and world-class outdoor recreation at your doorstep, Philipsburg is a nature-lover's paradise. The town is quite remote, with long winters, a busy tourist summer, and unlimited opportunities for fun. The town high school boasts a student-teacher ratio of 7:1, crime is low to non-existent, and a tightly-knit community experience permeates everything we do.

    THE BREWERY:
Philipsburg Brewing Company opened its doors in August of 2012. In calendar year 2013 we produced 650 barrels, the vast majority of which was consumed in our tap room. We are looking to grow our distribution via draft and limited bottling over the next two years. We are in a position to achieve serious growth in the next ten years and are looking for someone to grow with us. Our beers are balanced and drinkable, with six to eight flavors on tap at any one time.

    THE JOB:
The assistant brewer will work under the supervision of Head Brewer Mike Elliott and share all duties, including keg washing, cleaning, brewing, brewfesting, and generally having an awesome time while at work. The brewery and taproom are in the same space, so a friendly countenance and superb customer-service skills are a must. The brewhouse is highly manual and the work is extremely physically demanding. Ability to follow procedures is paramount. After training, the assistant brewer will likely be working four tens opposite the head brewer's schedule.

    YOU:
The ideal applicant will have some level of formal brewing education, with a BS in Fermentation Science preferred. Experience is desirable but not completely necessary; it's easy enough to learn to brew, so your attitude and ability to enjoy the smallest of small town life will be a major consideration. You must be able to work in high, low, cold, hot, cramped, expansive, dry, and wet conditions. Must be able to scale ladders, climb stairs, negotiate tight corners, and carry heavy stuff all the while. Again, ability to follow procedures to the letter is extremely important.

Please submit resumes, questions, or comments to mikesbrews@gmail.com

    Cheers!
