Long Trail Brewing is located in the middle of brewery-rich Vermont, between Woodstock and Killington, so in addition to a passion for great beer, wanting to live in a beautiful landscape with excellent outdoor recreational activities close at hand is a prerequisite for this job. We’re celebrating our 25th anniversary this year, so while we still feel like we're a small company, we’ve graduated from our original basement location, and now operate two production facilities and a much smaller pilot brewery.
The Job:
This position would start in the brewhouse, but we like to cross-train our team members in cellars and packaging as time and ability allow. Responsibilities are focused on wort production, including all the steps from grain handling to delivering wort to cellars and pitching yeast. Our system is 60 barrels, but fairly manual, you’ll be in control of the brewing, not a computer. We run 2 or 2.5 shifts, so we have an early and late shift, but no overnights.
Work Requirements
• For this position we are requiring at least 1 year of relevant professional production experience.
• Solid knowledge of the process, preferably through formal brewing education
• Need to be available for all shifts (evenings, weekends) – we run 7 days
• Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
• Good planning, organization and multitasking skills
• Must be able to lift 55 lbs repeatedly
• Must be competent on MS Office software
• Must be willing to work safely and follow standard operating procedures
• Must be a team player
• Must be detail-oriented
• Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical systems
