Assistant Brewer
Part-time, minimum of 20 hours per week
Job Summary
Les Brasseurs du Temps’ mission is to produce and market high quality craft beer. In parallel to their primary mission, the BDT work to promote regional agricultural products and the revitalization & development of brewing heritage of the city of Gatineau contributing thereby to the economic and tourism boom in the Outaouais region.
Employees of Les Brasseurs du Temps are an important resource, esteemed and essential to the fulfillment of the mission of the company. The main function of the Assistant Brewer position is to facilitate the work of the brewer in his operations and to maintain the various storage and production areas while providing all necessary support throughout the work shift for the proper functioning of its department.
Description of tasks
Main tasks
• Ensure order, hygiene and safety of the various equipment, production areas, packaging, storage and various common and public areas on the production floor.
• Ensure availability of different equipment and raw materials to meet the brewer’s requirements.
• Assist the brewer in his tasks.
• Coordinate with other departments in the establishment.
• Execute or participate in any other related duties as required to support the service.
Warehouse management, common and public areas
• Storing of raw materials and products in fermentation or ready to be shipped according to the brew master’s instructions.
• Move raw materials to production areas for brewing the next day or as required by the head brewer or brewer.
• Move bottles, kegs or any other material to the areas of packaging for the next day or as required by the head brewer or brewer.
• Move the finished goods to the assigned sections.
• Other tasks assigned by the brewer or the head brewer.
Production
• Clean production areas and equipment.
• Assist the brewer in his tasks.
• Other tasks assigned by the brewer or the head brewer.
Conditioning and packaging
• Clean the kegs for packaging product.
• Clean the areas and equipment for packaging.
• Transfer beer, clean tanks.
• Assist the brewer in his tasks.
• Other tasks assigned by the brewer or the brewer head.
Skills and qualifications
• Skills in the use of various tools and micro-brewery machinery.
• Professional attitude and behaviour (autonomous, enthusiastic, honest, flexible, sense of initiative, organizational skills, etc.).
• Knowledge of brewing.
• A minimum of 6 months experience as an assistant brewer or any other experience deemed relevant
• Must be responsible & punctual
• Must have a clean appearance
• Must be willing to work as a team
• Must be able to work under pressure
• Must be able to work days, evenings and holidays
• Must smile, be courteous, know how to present oneself
• Must have good communication skills
• Must demonstrate a desire to learn and grow
