The brewer is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all transfer lines and vessels, as well as for cellaring activities including yeast pitching, filtration, transfers, tank CIP, dry hopping, parts and hose maintenance and filling barrels, casks and firkins.

    • General overall cleaning of brewhouse/kegs/floors/everything
    • Equipment maintenance & repairs
    • Sanitary yeast handling & pitching
    • Fermentation monitoring & dry hopping
    • Helping out with beer transfers, cellaring, barrel aging, packaging, keg washing, milling in, and any other odd jobs that may be outside the realm of “brewing.”
    • Troubleshooting/problem solving.
    • Basic QA/QC duties.
    • Following all safety procedures.

    Requirements for this position include:

    • Minimum of 1 year of experience brewing in a production brewery or brewpub on at least a 7 barrel system.
    • Ability to work any shift for long hours at a time, including night shift & weekends.
    • Ability to get to work punctually to meet production schedule demands.
    • Effective multi-tasker, problem solver, critical thinker with attention to detail.
    • Quick learner who is adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
    • Someone who can work safely in the hazardous environment of a brewery (which includes environments which are hot, cold, wet, dealing with electricity, mechanical hazards, pressurized vessels, heights, chemicals, etc).
    • Physically capable of moving heavy (70 pound) objects without assistance, occasionally 170 pound kegs.
    • Hard work ethic and a positive attitude.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Coursework in brewing and/or a science degree are a plus. Mechanical aptitude is a big bonus.
