  • Schell's Brewery Seeking Experienced Quality Control Supervisor

    We are currently seeking an accomplished Quality Control Supervisor to join the August Schell team in June. Here is an overview of the role:

    1) The Quality Control Supervisor will be responsible for all aspects of the quality programs and functions.
    2) Maintain all HACCP, food safety records, plant audits, mock recall programs and training the plant on these issues and procedures.
    3) Work with the R&D Team on new product launches.
    4) Responsible for compliance with Federal and State legislation by establishing and enforcing quality standards; testing materials and product.
    5) Establishes in-process production inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods; devising testing methods and procedures.
    6) Ability to plan, monitor and appraise performance of location staff members.
    7) Establishes quality and reliability standards by studying product and consumer requirements with other members of management and with production operators, technicians and engineers.
    8) Establishes product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
    9) Maintains product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements; collaborating with other members of management to develop training methods.
    10) Manages and directs the quality assurance activities for the plant, to include syrup preparation and distribution, microbiology, sanitation, finished product analysis, package integrity testing, HACCP/GMP, and process control.
    11) Provides effective supervision to Quality Control Technician, by providing coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results.
    12) Maintain Quality Assurance staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees.
    13) Oversee and direct the efforts of the HACCP plan, including GMP auditing and corrective action plan development.
    14) Investigates reports and formulates corrective action plans on plant specific consumer complaints.
    15) Manage plant audits for housekeeping programs and coordinate improvement activities with other managers.
    16) Manage the maintenance of microbiological monitoring programs and direct sanitation programs.
    17) Assist supervisors in resolving Quality Control issues, tracking quality trends, recommending and implementing plans to improve quality and production efficiency.
    18) Maintain all relevant paperwork and budgetary demands.
    19) Direct quality work procedures to meet production schedules.
    20) Provide quality improvement education to the workforce through regular team meetings.
    21) Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
    22) Coordinates several projects at the same time while prioritizing competing demands on time frames.

    Qualifications and Desired Skills
    ======================

    1) University degree is required (preference will be given to those with degree in relevant field, though all candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply)
    2) Appropriate full-time work experience is mandatory (no students or fresh graduates please)
    3) Recent experience in the beverage industry is strongly preferred
    4) Preference will be given to people who have recent experience in quality control supervision
