    The Fort Collins Brewery is looking for our next great Production Brewer.

    Role:

    Responsible for ensuring the production of “Phenomenal Beer”. Specifically by producing wort, preparing fermentation, proper CIP-SIP procedures, controlling quality of product and keeping the facility and equipment clean and operating.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Brews exceptional beer as dictated by standard operating procedures (SOPs); Pours, dumps, or loads prescribed quantities of ingredients or products into brewing equipment, manually or using a hoist.
    2. Operates brew house by following set recipes, including milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, hop additions, whirlpool, and wort cooling.
    3. Completes necessary paperwork for all brewing activities including recording production and test data, such as processing steps, temperature readings, cooking time, and batches processed, and test results; maintains neat and accurate production logs.
    4. Performs designated QC and QA checks at various stages of brewing process. Performs basic testing with regard to recipe specifications. Collects and examines product samples during production to test them for quality, color, content, consistency, viscosity, acidity, or specific gravity.
    5. Ability to follow set CIP and SIP protocols.
    6. Follows all safety and health regulations and notifies Production Manager when issues arise.
    7. Controls ingredient and material inventory.
    8. Performs daily maintenance and cleaning of brew house machinery and surroundings.
    9. Reports any maintenance issues of machinery to Production Manager.
    10. Periodic weekend work, including monitoring fermentation and determining when to crash cool products at end fermentation, yeast collection, beer transfers, etc.…
    11. Tastes packaged product at intervals to ensure product consistency, stability and shelf life.
    12. Perform other job related duties as assigned.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    Experience: 3-5 Years of Production experience, experience with automation is preferred.

    Education: College Degree; B.S in Fermentation; B.S in Food Science Technology, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering; or Brewers Diploma/ Certification.

    Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much
    personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding
    routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some
    discussion.

    Other Skills: Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as those
    necessary to update spreadsheets or calculate basic equations.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required
    to work 40+ hours per week, talk, hear, stand, walk, use finger to hand, handle, or feel objects,
    tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or
    crawl. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Vision abilities required
    by the job include close and distance vision, color, peripheral, depth vision, and the ability to
    adjust focus.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English. Verbal communication is
    expressed clearly and concisely in individual situations. Uses proper language at all times.
    Written communication conveys ideas in a concise manner. Effectively writes memos and
    letters. Internal forms and correspondence are professional in appearance. Handwritten notes
    are legible and easily understood. Transcribes recorded information.

    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to operate basic office equipment including fax,
    copier, and personal computer using database, word processing and spreadsheet programs.
    Maintains a filing system that is up to date and accurate.
