    Job Summary:
    The Controls Engineer is expected to become familiar with all production procedures to assist in the optimization and expansion of the automation system. The Controls Engineer has to analyze user requirements and the design of the brewing process and/or mechanical equipment to design automation systems that will cause the equipment to function in the desired manner.

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
    Specifically, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
    • Analyze process installations and relate control signals from instrumentation to user interface
    • Assist in design and implementation of future control systems
    • Calibrate, troubleshoot, test, repair, and improve sensing, measurement, and actuation devices
    • Establish standards, templates, and guidelines as applied to the automation system using the information gathered in the definition stage and considering human-factor effects in order to satisfy customer design criteria and preferences
    • Develop a functional description of the automation solution (e.g., control scheme, alarms, HMI, reports) using rules established in the definition stage in order to guide development and programming
    • Review configuration and programming using defined practices in order to establish compliance with functional requirements
    • Test the automation system using the test plan in order to determine compliance with functional requirements
    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field and prior experience in an engineering position completing tasks similar to the above job duties.
    • Program experience with Allen Bradley or Siemens system S7
    • Attention to detail, ability to produce accurate, precise and reproducible data
    • Flexibility in shift schedule
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Ability to operate in a team environment and ability to manage multiple tasks
    • Ability to take initiative, act promptly and be proactive
    • Strong verbal and written communications skills

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Program experience with Rockwell system (RS500 and RS5000)
    • Program experience with Siemens system S7 and VCC
    • Program experience with Brewery Software package called BrewMaxx
    • Prior work experience in Brewing or Liquid Processing Industry

    Physical Demands:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and tools. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and rarely lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color vision.
