    Sociable Cider Werks in NE Minneapolis is still looking to replace a well-bearded, uber-creative, willing-to-take-risks brewer that just happens to have a penchant for making obscure Star Wars references. We would like to make the hire for a June 1 start date. Position would be to head our brewing operations and assist in cider making.

    A little about Sociable:

    Sociable is the only cidery in the country licensed as a brewery since all of our ciders include a brewed bittering adjunct. This gives us the flexibility to brew adjunct components that range from subtle to intensely malty. As a result our lineup that spans a range from very traditional dry apple to the supremely odd. One of our most popular, but also strangest products is Spoke Wrench Stout Apple. It is what it sounds like, a cider that has a stout wort adjunct. It pours black as night, is malty, roasty and chocolatey, but without sacrificing cider crispness. We ferment cider in 50 BBL batches and brew the adjuncts on a 2bbl 2 vessel system.     A little about the responsibilities of the Job:

    1. Brewing 2 BBL batches of beer for sale in our taproom. This role comes with a tremendous amount of creative license. Beer brewing responsibilities include the full gamut from recipe development to kegging with little support. We are really looking for someone who can run this portion of the business independently. We dedicate 3-4 in-house lines to beers. So in addition to cider affeccionados we get brewpub regulars. We make strong dry ciders that appeal to craft beer drinkers. Part of that is having a ever-changing, creative, and interesting beers on tap to compliment our cider lineup. To give you an idea of what we are looking for, we have never brewed the same 2BBL batch of beer since our taproom opened in November. Our beer lineup has included classic ales, lagers, fruit beers, “hot-side” sours, nitro beers & old world beers. We’ve even got a cock ale in our sights for this spring.

    2. Brewing cider adjuncts. This is blocking and tackling work, pretty much execution brewing in the purest sense of the word

    3. Cellar/ BBL management. We bulk age all of our ciders and will be adding a barrel aging program this fall. Experience with barreling is a plus, but not necessary. In the absence of experience, be ready to learn.

    4. Taproom responsibilities. We are open to the public Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday, and expect the brewer to work the taproom by pouring and interacting with customers twice weekly. This part of the job is pretty nice… tip money is good and you get free reign over the tunes.

    5. Cider Recipe development. We really thrive on creativity at Sociable and the head cider maker, while particular, is open to suggestions and ideas regarding future cider recipe development.
