Ithaca Beer Company, Inc. is an award-winning craft brewery founded in 1998 in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York. In 2012, Ithaca Beer built a brand new brewery and taproom allowing Ithaca Beer to triple its brewing capacity and keep up with the burgeoning demand for craft beer in national and international markets.
Ithaca Beer Company. Inc. is currently seeking a Head Brewer/Brewer to join our Brewing team.
The main responsibilities include:
Support Ithaca Beer Company’s vision and mission
Forecast hops and malt needs
Involved in hiring and training of brewers
Take part in educating all staff on beer and brewing
Involved in planning and implementing brewing/filtration schedule to meet annual sales projections
Investigate current operations for improvement and recommend changes for increased efficiency and yields
Develop new and exciting beers in keeping with Ithaca Beer Company’s overall focus
Oversee inventory to ensure that all raw materials are in-house and available per the brewing schedule
Continue to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for brewing operations
Maintain all brewing documentation accurately and in a timely manner
Work in conjunction with marketing staff to publicize seasonal and new beers
Ensure a safe working environment and maintain brewing area in a “tour ready” state
Be a proponent for Ithaca Beer while at events and in the general public
Position requirements:
3+ years in-depth brewing experience, 50+bbl brew house a plus
Brewing school experience a plus
Strong skills in technical aspects of brewing, beer finishing, leadership, project management and organization
Ability to effectively resolve beer production and quality issues
Ability to manage productive relationships with co-workers, suppliers and customers
Must be able and willing to work a variable shift schedule that is dependent on the operational needs of the brewery
Ability to lift 55 lbs. on a daily basis
