The Fairhope Brewing Co is located along the coast in Lower Alabama on Mobile Bay, about 30 minutes from Mobile. We are looking to expand our operation and will be in need of an assistant brewer with at least minimal experience in the brewing world. The expansion will take our brewery from a 10-bbl system to a 30-bbl operation with 60-bbl fermenters, all the while keeping the 10-bbl set-up for creative ideas. In addition to the obvious love for beer, the person we are looking for needs to be prepared to really put in some hard work and be able to hold his or her own once the sarcastic comments and jokes begin. From our perspective, the assistant brewer's passion about brewing and craft beer are just as key of factors as his or her knowledge of the industry.
The main duties that will fall under the assistant brewer title will be as follows:
Passion for quality beer and creative beer
Easy-going, eager to learn mindset
Cleaning and sanitation of all tanks and brewing/cellar area
Cleaning and filling kegs
Pilot/experimental batch brewing
Brewing on 30-bbl tanks and working with 60-bbl fermenters (we will provide much training)
Perform beer transfers
Dry hop tanks
Carbonate beer
Assist in operation of bottling line including labeler
Operate a fork lift is a plus
Attend beer festivals, training programs, beer dinners, or other brewery events
All the other odds and ends that make for a successful small business
