    Three Brothers Brewing, located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Harrisonburg, VA, is seeking a full time Brewer. Three Brothers produced their first batch in December of 2012. In 2013, it brewed approximately 1,400 barrels with growth ranging from 150% to over 275% in various markets in VA. In its first year of operations, Three Brothers won a bronze at the GABF for its Rum Barrel Aged Belgian Dubbel, and two medals at the Virginia Craft Beer Fest. We operate on a 15 BBL system and brew into 30 and 60 BBL tanks. Packaging is on a GAI-3003A.

    Job Summary:

    The Head Brewer will be responsible for all brewery operations in conjunction with the brothers.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    The Head Brewer is responsible for training, guiding and growing the team of brewers to become educated, efficient and well-rounded brewers.
    Have a plan of continuing education for themselves and team to constantly improve the teams knowledge base on brewing and the industry
    Create and follow through with a training program for each brewer to meet his or her goals as a brewer and our company goals for a balanced team.
    Keep his team improving their methods and become consistent in hitting brewing quality control points.
    Maintain constant communication with operations management team on any issues and their development.
    Organize and unite the team on focused goals inside the brewery.
    Organize and unite the team to represent our brewery professionally at outside events
    Prioritize, clarify and follow through with department goals and objectives with brewing staff so they understand, unite and achieve.
    Quality Finished Beer Production is the most important part of the Head Brewer’s job.
    Review and research any variances on daily quality control points and keep an improvement log on all issues as they develop.
    Provide the brewers with the resources and guidance they need to maintain quality control points in specification
    Create and maintain a method of continuous improvement of our wort and beer quality and consistency taking direction from all quality sources.
    Maintain an adequate supply of quality malt, hops and other brewery supplies to keep up with production and balances cost and cash flow considerations.
    Qualify new suppliers and keep records of supplier issues and performance to assist in determining annual supplier decisions.
    Requirements:

    Well rounded management skills, a related degree (Science or Engineering), and a minimum of 3-5 years of brewery experience is needed for successful candidacy.
    Good verbal and written communication skills, mathematical and analytical skills are required. Interpersonal and motivations skills required.
    Full understanding of beer science, brewhouse, cellar operations and packaging operations are a must.
    Past brewery installation experience is desired.
    Physical requirements:

    Our Brewer must be able to bend over, twist, kneel, stand for the duration of a shift, lift 55 pounds and maneuver 160 pounds repeatedly. Requires proper handling of hazardous materials and operation of complex machinery.
