Assistant Brewer
Blue Mountain Brewery has a part time (30-35hrs) brewer/cellarman position in our original Afton, VA location. Pay commensurate with experience. Come work for Virginia's premier craft brewery located in beautiful Nelson County just west of Charlottesville.
Duties
Operate brewing equipment including brewhouse, grain mill, plate and frame filter, keg cleaner, keg filler, and forklift.
• Assist in all aspects of brewing and packaging of draft beer
• Operate independently to clean and sanitize tanks and equipment
• Perform ingredient and cooperage inventories
• Properly and safely mix precise cleaning solutions
• Have good mechanical skills
• Assist with cleaning and other tasks associated with brewery maintenance.
• Perform general maintenance on all brewery equipment including pumps, glycol systems and boilers when appropriate
• Have good attention to detail and follow established procedures and protocols
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Able to lift 60lbs and work on your feet for 8-12 hours
• Work flexible hours including limited weekends, early shifts, late shifts as schedule dictates
- strong people skills and willingness to interact with the public and the front of house and back of house brewpub staff
Professional brewing experience is highly desired, but not necessary if you are exceedingly mechanically inclined. A good understanding of biology, chemistry and engineering principals is beneficial. Training will be provided where needed.
