We are a startup brewery in Mumbai, India looking for a Head Brewer. Microbrewery is a booming business in India. There’s a great opportunity here for the right person to live in one of the most exciting places in the world, make some great beer and have a good livelihood. Start time for the position is in approximately 3 to 6 months.
We are looking for an individual who has at between 10-15 years of brewing experience in the craft beer industry and preferably, has formal training from a recognized brewing academy. The best candidate should have a desire to experiment with new flavours (fruit, spices, etc.) and should also be comfortable working in a nano-brewery atmosphere. A best candidate must be in tune with modern systems and controls and should also have a complete knowledge of microbrewery set-up right from the initial level. As a part of his/her brewing experience, the individual should have successfully developed beer recipes including different beer styles from across the globe, sourced ingredients and worked in a facility with a taproom or brewpub.
The right candidate will have a positive attitude, be friendly and sincere, with good communication skills. He/she should be flexible, organized, hard-working, but fun loving. The right candidate will have a great passion for making the very best beer. This person will basically be handed the keys to the brewery and let at it!
Duties
As contemplated, the Head Brewer will have the following responsibilities and duties:
· Responsible for day to day operations of the brewery to supply the taproom.
· Develop new beer recipes, sourcing and ordering ingredients and inventory of ingredients and product; planning beer production to meet sales demand; ensure quality and consistency of product; overseeing the production of all beer made at the facility.
· Developing standards, procedures and protocols for brewing; testing to ensure these are maintained; implementing detailed cleaning regiments; develop maintenance programs and safety schedules, protocols.
· Interview, hire and supervise other employees in brewery section of business.
· Schedule brewery employees as needed.
· Keep and maintain accurate records; prepare reliable projections
Physical Requirements
· Must be able to walk and climb stairs, move and lift hoses, lifting and moving up to 60 pounds.
· Have solid math skills, read and understand scientific instrumentation, and be able to work.
· Long hours on his/her feet.
Pay
· Pay will be competitive in the industry and based on experience.
· This is a full time, salaried and exempt position.
· Basic health insurance provided.
· Accomodation will be provided and other perks would be decided upon mutual consent.
· Head Brewer will have a brewer’s assistant in the future.
