3-Month Unpaid Brewing Apprenticeship/Internship

Half Full Brewery is, first and foremost, a passion driven and team oriented endeavor. We are currently experiencing significant growth of our beers and brands and are seeking unpaid brewing apprentices/interns to participate in a 3-month apprenticeship/internship program.
Position Summary
Are you looking to gain experience in the brewing industry and work with a passionate, entrepreneurial team? Located just a half hour from New York City in Stamford CT, Half Full Brewery has a unique opportunity available for the right candidate. This is a hands on experience in every aspect of brewing from grain to glass. We have a brand spanking new 20bbl DME brewing system with four 40-bbl fermenters, two 60-bbl fermenters, and a 40-bbl brite tank. We also have a 1-bbl pilot system that serves as our test kitchen and reward center. Well-behaved Half Full Brewery crew members get to show off their creativity on this great Nano system!
The right candidate will:
• Be 21+ and have the ability to work around alcohol without abusing it.
• Be an obsessive note-taker.
• Possess a “can do”, team-first attitude and understand the need to be a self-starter.
• Have basic mechanical skills and the ability to poke fun at yourself when you find yourself in a situation where those skills are lacking.
• Maintain organization, discipline and be detail oriented. You should have excellent time management skills and always find ways to meet deadlines.
• Have and infectious enthusiasm and passion for beer, people, and experiences. We work hard and play hard.
Roles and Responsibilities
• The internship will focus on keg and brew house cleaning and maintenance
• Your will have the opportunity to observe and learn the brewing and cellaring process from our Chief Beer Artist, Jennifer Muckerman
• Help with planning, set up, execution, and cleanup of onsite events
• Serve as a Half Full Brand Ambassador. As a representative of Half Full, you’ll be expected to carry yourself in a professional manner at all times.
• Should you show exemplary work ethic and skill, you will be able to participate in the brewing process on our 20bbl system and brew your own recipes on our 1bbl system
Other Physical Requirements
• Ability to work at a fast pace and remain on feet for long periods
• Ability to frequently reach out with hands and arms as well as stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds employing traditional lifting methods
• Ability to be frequently exposed to wet conditions and work in extreme cold and heat
• Ability to safely handle chemicals
• Ability to work near moving mechanical parts
• Ability to work in an environment with a moderate noise level and strong odors
