    Only applicants who reside or are willing to reside in the San Diego area will be considered.

    Stone Brewing Co. is in search of an exceptional senior manager who will develop and lead a world class packaging operation. This individual will drive a process improvement mindset, identify and recommend operational enhancements expand and manage the packaging operations and own the metrics and reporting of all packaging related activities.

    Working closely with senior management, you will be responsible for providing the direction, development, expansion, execution and ongoing performance of the program to:

    • ensure 100% uptime of packaging operations,
    • identify ongoing improvements in existing or future operations to optimize and ensure highest plant and line efficiency, productivity, throughput, product quality and lowest cost
    • extending the useful life of plant, equipment and process,
    • direct and lessen ongoing capex and opex $s and thereby, with all of the above, improving return on capital

    This person must not only be passionate about our craft but for process improvement execution, packaging and developing a high performance team. This team member has deep cross-functional business and technical experience in packaged beer, is a seasoned operator, influencer, and collaborator.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Operate and improve a comprehensive kegging and bottling infrastructure, programs and teams across all packaging operations, including system development, staffing and management, integrated production scheduling, metrics, budget/costs and reporting.
    • Develop and implement supporting equipment, parts, MRO, spare parts lifecycle, vendor and inventory management program, documentation, systems and operations in combination with peer infrastructure managers.
    • Support team member development.
    • Ensure team member safety, OSHA, Stone Brewing Co. and other code compliance in all activities.
    • Develop cross-functional teams to guide and manage the operation and vendors.
    • Identify and implement capital or other projects (e.g., re-engineering) designed to increase reliability, capacity, efficiency (eliminate all forms of waste), productivity and safety and minimize non-planned, reactive activity and downtime.
    • Provide strategy, direction, budget, investment/ROI, metrics and plans for expansion or enhancements.
    • Prepare plans and specifications for new equipment or modification of existing equipment to increase operational capacity or efficiency. Implement performance standards for equipment to ensure efficient operation.
    • Work with engineering to commission, support and set up maintenance programs for all new capital equipment installations and operations infrastructure.
    • Develop standardized programs, KPIs/metrics and reports to ensure process operating performance, ongoing improvements, risk identification, visibility and closed loop learning (e.g., design modifications).
    • Develop formal standards, SOPs and TOPs for all process operations.
    • Ensure 100% compliance with all municipal, county and federal codes. Manage all related permits or permitting. Be primary point of contact for all related items.
    • Educate the production team on best practices for achieving the highest sustainable performance. Work with others to develop and deliver team training and off-shift staff to effectively monitor and troubleshoot system and operations.
    • Develop, prepare and maintain budget for packaging operations for anticipated material, equipment and personnel needs. Implement plan to fulfill needs.
    • Oversee construction, testing, and implementation of relevant systems.
    • Schedule and coordinate activities concerned with packaging operations and team closely with distribution and logistics teams.
    • Provide quick response to system issues that impact production quality and/or quantity

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • An effective manager with strong execution skills that is entrepreneurial, astute, and has a passion for getting into the details where appropriate to make effective decisions and drive results.
    • A flexible and agile person that recognizes what and when ‘good enough’ is and is willing to draw line in the sand to get started with and improve upon. Able to quickly assess without complete information and drive forward progress under ambiguous circumstances.
    • Big picture thinker, strategic, but able to distill functions and business interactions into tactical/detailed process and workflows in order to drive improvements and efficiency gains. Effective demonstration of analytical skills, change management, and financial acumen.
    • Solid grasp of release, product and project management in a complex, high volume (project, program) environment. Practical at all times (in order to minimize workloads across the organization).
    • An effective and persuasive communicator with outstanding presence and presentation skills that constantly strives for simplicity and clarity.
    • Strong leadership, team member, and staff/team development and motivation skills.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Engineering , preferably Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial.
    • Minimum of 10 years’ related experience and demonstrated results implementing and managing beer packaging operations and achieving elevated performance levels.
    • Proficiency with office and project management tools including Microsoft Project, SharePoint, MS Office Suite, etc. and experience w/ Microsoft Dynamics AX preferred or other ERP systems preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience and familiarity with CMMS, ERP, production and inventory management systems developing and driving change adoption of them into the standard operations.
    • Demonstrated results managing large scale packaging operations, multi-million $,complex projects, programs, portfolios, infrastructure, vendors and high performance teams.
    • Experience using Reliability tools such as Pareto analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
