  • DE Filter Sizing

    Hey y'all,

We're looking into a DE filter for filtering some of our canned product (our pilsner, in particular). We brew 60bbl batches, but we'll eventually be installing 90 and 120 bbl tanks. I've heard that 1m2 per 10bbls is a good rule of thumb for DE filter sizing, but I'm curious how many people are actually using this rule.

    Cheers,
    Matt

I received a recommendation as to sizing from Velo. They are saying that 3m2 should be plenty for filtering our 60 bbl batches, but 3m2 is considerably smaller than the rule of thumb that I stated above. Any suggestions or comments?

Back at Great Divide we had a 10m2 and we were turning out 300BBL a few times a week. We also did 50 and 100bbl runs on it without a problem. The 300bbl days were usually a two man job with one starting up in the morning and the other finishing, carbing, and cleaning in the afternoon.
