    JOB TITLE: Government Tax and Label(s) Coordinator
    LOCATION: Administrative Building
    REPORTS TO: Government Compliance Manager
    POSITION TYPE: Full time, Hourly
    EXTERNAL POSTING DATES: 07/28/2014- 08/17/2014

    SUMMARY: Supports the Government Compliance Manager by ensuring that the organization is in compliance with State and Federal rules and regulations regarding alcohol labeling and distribution. Works directly with the production department of the Upper Hand Brewery (UHB) to facilitate all clerical functions necessary to perform the day to day operations.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    •Adheres to and advances the “Safety Always” culture of Bell’s Brewery.
    •Investigate regulations related to the labeling and distribution of alcohol in the Bell’s/Upper Hand distribution area.
    •Responsible for the completion of applications of Federal Certificate of Label Approval and Formulas.
    oComplete all application within set deadlines.
    oFollow up on the review process.
    oCommunicate the status of outstanding requests to the organization.
    oWork with government entities to ensure the timely approval of labels.
    •Proactively research regulations which may impact the organization and communicates applicable upcoming potential and implemented legislative changes to the organization.
    •Responsible for filing excise taxes and Brewer’s Report of Operations for the organization.
    oConsolidate data and generate the necessary reports.
    oVerify accuracy of all submitted information.
    •Completes monthly Michigan excise tax report and volume reports for other states where licenses as required.
    •Create new and ensure existing internal controls are effective, in place and in compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for tax reporting.
    •Work with subject matter experts including tax advisors, attorneys, and government officials to ensure that the organization is in compliance with applicable regulations.
    •Assist Trademark attorney with gathering and tracking information for Bell’s and UHB trademark compliance applications and oppositions.
    •Collect, sort and process all productions logs for the UHB (ie: brewing logs, fermentation logs, packaging logs, disposal logs, and batch tracking logs).
    oFile UHB production logs in the appropriate files.
    •Manage brand information for the UHB (ie: legal name & descriptions, package sizes, etc.)
    •Provide backup administrative duties to the Data Processing Clerk

    Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

    •Ability to work proficiently in Windows environment including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access Database, and Microsoft Outlook on a Windows based PC.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
    •Associates degree in Accounting or related field.
    oSpecific course work in government compliance a plus.
    •Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with Federal and State excise taxes and labeling, within a brewery or winery a plus.
    •Strong understanding of Federal and State alcohol tax regulations
    •Strong understanding of compliance regulations for alcohol distribution and labeling.
    •Moderate level of craft beer product knowledge.
