What kind of flow rate are you looking for to create a decent whirlpool at that volume? I use 1" hose with 1.5" triclovers. Can I get enough flow rate from that size hose?

For that matter is there a standard vertical location on the tank wall for the tangential inlet?

Thanks for any info...

You should easily get a whirlpool going with 1" hose on a 5 BBL system. You will probably want a 1 HP pump with high temperature seals to withstand the boiling hot wort.
