    At the Workshop Brewing Company we sustain nature, build community, and honor craft. We do this by creating honest, traditional beers and wholesome, delicious food using ingredients sourced as locally/organically as possible, and by serving them with genuine warmth and enthusiasm in a setting that is welcoming and fun.

    We need a Brewpub General Manager with enthusiasm and savoir-faire to keep us on our upward path.

    Summary of Position: Assist with articulating ambitious but achievable goals in revenue, costs, employee retention, guest service and satisfaction, food quality, cleanliness and sanitation, etc., develop documentation and training programs aimed at achieving (and sustaining) these goals. Inspire staff and customers with your active commitment to our company’s motto, “nature, community, craft.”

    Duties & Responsibilities:
    • BE PASSIONATE ABOUT OUR BEER AND OUR FOOD AND HOW GREAT THEY ARE TOGETHER!
    • EMBODY OUR CULTURE: Be genuinely inspired by our company’s values as expressed in our Manifesto.
    • DOCUMENT OUR CULTURE: Develop policies, procedures, standards, specifications, and guidelines (“Culture”) in keeping with the Manifesto and with our business goals.
    • TEACH OUR CULTURE: Develop industry-leading training programs for our Culture; teach our Culture and lead by example.
    • PERPETUATE OUR CULTURE: Ensure that our standards become more and more entrenched over time- and that we are always looking for ways to improve.
    • ACHIEVE OUR GOALS: Doing all of the above (always in keeping with the Manifesto) means that, at a minimum:
    o All guests feel welcome and receive responsive, friendly and courteous service at all times.
    o All food and products are consistently available, and are consistently prepared and served according to our portioning, cooking, and serving standards.
    o We consistently meet or exceed our objectives in revenue, costs, employee retention, guest service and satisfaction, food quality, cleanliness and sanitation, etc.
    o Our staff feel empowered, involved, invested, safe, trusted, and valued.
    • INSPIRE OUR STAFF: Gain the trust and respect of our staff by showing them hard work, respect, consistency, firmness, fairness, humor, and commitment to them and to our Culture. Understand that you work for them, and that it is your job to imbue their work with meaning and value, and to provide them with the tools and conditions they need to do their work well and to feel proud of the role they play in our company’s success.
    • GUIDE OUR STAFF: Develop policies for employee performance reviews. Monitor and document employee performance. Follow the policies and complete reviews on a timely basis.
    • SCHEDULE OUR STAFF: Anticipate the variable demands of our business, and ensure that all positions are staffed when and as needed to meet our service goals while still meeting our labor cost objectives.
    • DO THE HARD STUFF: Be knowledgeable of our Culture, policies, and rule; administer prompt, fair and consistent guidance for any and all violations of our Culture, policies, and rule. Make employment and termination decisions.
    • DO THE OTHER HARD STUFF: Become familiar with every position in the company (from dishwasher to prep cook to assistant brewer), and fill in these positions where needed to ensure that we never fail to meet service standards.
    • RESPONSIBLY HANDLE THE MONEY: Establish policies and procedures that facilitate financial tracking and responsibility, and that prevent theft or other irregularities.
    • IMPOSE ORDER: Prepare all required paperwork, including forms, reports, schedules, and payroll in an organized and timely manner.
    • MAINTAIN OUR STUFF: Develop and oversee a program to ensure that all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working condition.
    • ORDER STUFF: Work with other managers to develop a program for monitoring inventory of everything we use (from food to barley to garbage bags to printer paper); implement and continually oversee this program to ensure that buy smart but never run out of everything we need to achieve our goals. Continually strive to purchase in keeping with the Manifesto.
    • FOLLOW THE LAW: Fully understand and ensure that we comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees and guests.
    • SPREAD THE WORD: Assist with the development, planning, and execution of our marketing, advertising and promotional activities and campaigns- this includes, among other things, helping to grow and develop our Comrade’s Club, devising special events and promotions, advising on media/marketing decisions, etc.

    Qualifications:
    • Be at least 21 years of age.
    • Speak and understand English fluently.
    • Be passionate and knowledgeable about craft beer.
    • Be knowledgeable about service and food and beverage generally; have three years or so of front-of-the-house operations and/or assistant management experience.
    • Possess excellent basic math skills and have the ability to operate a POS system.
    • Be comfortable using Excel or a similar spreadsheet program.
    • Have a basic understanding of standard financial accounting documents.
    • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
    • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Be enthusiastically willing and able to work very long hours.

    Compensation:
    Competitive for our area, will include performance incentives that we will work out together. We also envision your participation in the success of our enterprise through revenue-sharing, etc. We practice open-book management, so you will always know where you stand.\
