Red-X/ Best Malz

Using a 75% amount of Red-X malt with 2-row pale, getting great color, but slow run-off, is everyone else using rice hulls in the mash with this malt. Going to do a 100% run next week, and see performance.

same problem

Recently we brewed with red X and had about a 45min longer sparge. I was thinking it was a different size grain than what we have been putting through our mill. The red X was mostly the base for this beer.

we made a batch with 80% Red-X for a base for an IPA and don't believe we had any runoff issues. The crush on our system is fairly coarse so take it with a grain of salt though.
