  • First CIP cleaning...

    I have a 1.5 HP pump. A 4 bbl fermenter I want to clean.

The CIP ball goes in the top. There is a pipe running from that CIP ball down the side of the fermenter. At the bottom of that pipe there are 2 ports. One is on the side of the pipe 4 inches from the bottom of the pipe. And the other is at the bottom with a Butterfly valve on it.

What is the 2nd port, that is open for? Pressure valve?

Any advise on this would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Pete

You guessed it. We have a PRV on ours, which makes CIP a little more annoying, as you have to throttle back the pump if you leave it on. But hey, it's your tank you can put whatever you feel like there.

I would suggest a cap during CIP.
