Anyone using this item from GW Kent?

We'll be carbing in our 7bbl vessel for the 1st time in a couple of weeks and we're looking for ways to test for c02 levels. I know there are a lot of people using the SS-60 from Zahm and Nagel, but this thing is quite a bit cheaper. Not even sure if the two items are comparable, the GW Kent web site being what it is.

    Thanks,

I've used it a lot. The pressure gauge gets all out of whack and you have to replace it every so often, but otherwise it's ok. Kind of hard to clean.

Not currently, but for several years. It works, and I never managed to break it. Not sure what else there is to say.

Beer is like porn. You can buy it, but it's more fun to make your own.

Pressure-temperature measurement is good to get a ballpark figure for carbonation level. However if you're looking for better accuracy and/or are using nitrogen in your process, then they're not going to give you the kind of robust data you would be requiring.

As with most (all?) analytical kit, the key to getting the best accuracy possible is good technique and looking after the unit you have.

I am looking at buying this tester but want to make sure I have the necessary fittings. Can this be hooked up to a fermenter through sample valve or is it meant only for keg carbonation?
          Thanks
