  • Yet another keg labeling question - Virginia ABC laws

Do I have to get keg collar approval for pilot batches that will ONLY be sold out of our tasting room? If so, is it legal to create a generic label that has "fill-in-the-blank" spaces for all necessary info and get that approved?

Our brewery is in Virginia so I'm really hoping that there is another VA brewery that can answer this. I've seen many posts regarding this, but unfortunately I have not been able to locate a response that specifically addresses this issue.

    Thanks,
    Noah C.

    Yes

    Noah:

Yes, all pilot batches need ABC approval, even if it is just for the tap room. ABC sent out a circular about this just a few months back. You can do a simple blank label and fill it out by hand, but it has to read exactly what the approval is for.

    Cheers,
    Mike

      Hey Mike,
Thanks for the response...not the answer I was hoping for, but I appreciate it nonetheless.
