Who we are:
Port City Brewing Company is a fast- growing, award-winning craft brewery. We produced over 9,000 bbls last year, during our third year of business and will sell 40% more this year. We are a busy facility and are brewing, cellaring, kegging, bottling, shipping, receiving, and doing maintenance all in the same day. Our beer is not pasteurized or filtered so sanitation is of utmost importance in our brewery.
This is a unique opportunity for both our next Brewer and Port City as this new hire will gain experience in a variety of areas in the brewery through cross-training. We have 4 full-timers and are hiring more. Think it could be you? Read on.
What we're looking for:
Our ideal Shift Brewer will have 3 to 5 years experience in a busy commercial brewery (this is not an opportunity for even the most enthusiastic home brewers.) We’re looking for someone who can adapt to any brewing environment who can implement good plant hygiene and the utmost attention to detail. Above all, you should have a thirst for learning and deep passion for producing world-class quality beer.
Required Experience:
Wort production
Fermentation and yeast management
Racking and standardization
CIP and housekeeping
QCQA
Recipe formulation and pilot brewing
Documenting brewing, cellaring and packaging operations
Kegging and bottling
Shipping and receiving
Unlicensed maintenance of brewing cellar and packaging equipment
Household repairs
Consumer tastings and education (sales)
Familiarity with GAI / CIMEC bottlers, IDD keggers, JVNW brewhouses, Columbia boilers and G&D chillers is highly desired. Basic computer skills (Word and Excel) will be necessary.
Port City Brewing is a small (but mighty) company and we're looking for individuals with the drive and desire to learn and to be cross-trained in other operational areas of our growing brewery. We are a hands-on brewery and you will be expected to lift 55lb sacks; load full kegs onto pallets, work in cold, hot and/or confined spaces and be open to work early morning and evening shifts with the potential for overtime, if needed.
Position type:
Full-time
Location:
Alexandria, VA (no relocation assistance)
How to apply:
Think you fit the bill? To apply, please reply to info@portcitybrewing.com with a resume detailing your skills and experience in the brewing industry, any related experience, and the last great beer you drank.
EOE, no phone calls please.
