Twisted Manzanita Ales is hiring for a new part-time Production Team Member! We're on track to brew 4,000bbl in 2014 with six year-round offerings and an average of one specialty release per month. This year we’ve extended distribution beyond CA and are expanding our production team accordingly. We are a lean, dedicated organization so flexibility, commitment and personal drive are required for a successful applicant. You MUST be committed to learning the craft of brewing, continuously improving, and striving for a higher standard of quality.
Primary Responsibilities will include:
- Packaging; kegs as well as our own 22oz Bottler and on mobile canning systems
- Cellar-work; including yeast management, tank CIP, racking, plate & frame filtration, carbonation & fermenter additions
- Assist as needed with numerous tasks, including receipt of deliveries, inventory rotation, barrel work, deliveries direct to customer, other tasks as needed
- Regular participation in tasting panels (both formal and extracurricular)
- Leaving the brewery clean and organized both during and after your shift
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks efficiently - with an eye towards quality - is a must
- Working with the entire production team to refine standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Consistently evaluating the quality of raw materials during everyday operations
Top candidates will meet the following requirements:
- This is a physically demanding position! Ability to work on your feet for hours at a time in a uncontrolled climate, repeatedly lift 55#, occasionally moving full kegs (165#), climb stairs and fit in tight spaces, work on ladders and lifts
- Strict adherence to record-keeping standards and SOPs
- A reverence for microbiological cleanliness that borders on the pathological
- A commitment to helping others and getting the job done
- Independent work ethic and flexible schedule
- Extensive interest and experience with homebrewing OR professional experience
- Sensory training or certification strongly preferred
- Demonstrable mechanical aptitude highly desirable
- Professional brewing education is a plus, as is laboratory familiarity
- Production brewing experience is NOT required, but would be desirable
- A sincere love of beer is a must!
