Head Brewer – Cedar Park, Texas
We’re looking for a creative, experienced and detail oriented head brewer for an early stage, startup production brewery with onsite taproom which will be located in North Austin, Texas (Cedar Park). Tentative start date would be January/February 2015. Taproom and distribution will begin in June/July 2015. .
Responsibilities:
The head brewer will be responsible for all recipe creation, ingredient purchasing, brewing schedules, equipment maintenance and sanitation (until assistant brewer is hired), inventory management, research and development and new hire (brewer) training among other responsibilities. This position will be frequently collaborating with ownership and duties may fluctuate depending on need (Attendance at festivals and/or events, promotion of brand, etc.). In addition to daily brewing responsibilities, this individual will attend weekly meetings with management to review recent sales, present status, future strategies/direction and innovation. Must be able to lift 55 pounds, twist/turn, reach over shoulders, bend/stoop and stand/walk on a continual basis.
Requirements:
Minimum 3-5 years commercial brewing experience on a 15 BBL or larger system combined with a formal brewing education. Must be experienced with barrel aging and incorporating this into the production schedule. High degree of mechanical inclination and ability to troubleshoot issues is strongly desired. People management experience is also desired but not required.
Soft Skills:
Communication, accountability, attention to detail, motivated self-starter and team oriented skills are imperative and expected. We like passionate people that can get others excited about craft beer. The successful candidate will frequently interact with our customers and discuss our beers, vision and values. A sense of humor is always a plus. We’re a family run business that needs the right individual looking to grow with our company.
