Head brewer needed for a brand new start-up brewpub in central Southern Indiana brewing on a brand new, state of the Art DME 7 bbl brewery. This is an excellent opportunity for the right person.
Job Description
Assist with the startup of the brewery
Brew beer and monitor fermentation
Develop beer recipes
Filter, transfer, carbonate, and keg beer
Harvest yeast
Clean tanks and kegs
Perform preventative maintenance on brewing system and coordinate with outside vendors as needed
for any maintenance or repairs
Ensure product quality and consistency
Maintain a clean and safe working environment
Order grains, hops, chemicals & other brewery supplies to keep stocked as needed based on the
production schedule
Maintain all brewing documentation in an accurate and timely manner
Complete documents including excise tax and operation’s reports
Write Standard Operating Procedures for the brewery
Assist in determining the yearly budgeting process
Represent Schnitz Brewery at events and tastings
Pour samples in the tap room, discuss beer to
customers, sell beer and merchandise
Requirements
Professional brewing experience – brewing school is
a plus
Ability to take initiative, identify issues or areas for
improvement and implement solutions
Willingness to work evenings and weekends
Self-motivation, organizational skills, and team
player mentality
Willingness to assist with tasks outside of listed responsibilities
Physically able to left up to 55 lbs., maneuver 125 lbs., and stand for 8-10 hours
