  • Air Dryer For Squier Plus 2 Keg Filler

I'm curious what other IDD Squier Plus 2 owners are using for a air dryer on the air lines going into the filler. Trying to find a good solution without breaking the bank. Thanks in advance.

What kind of air supply do you have? Some compressors produce useably dry air with no need for a drier, some require lots of help. We use a coil of SS tubing in our glycol back to ensure dry air, which works very well, especially since we replaced our old reciprocating comp. with an IR rotary comp, which produces very dry air to begin with, and no oil in the airstream.

Don't forget to micro-filter your air if it's your final blow-down.

That will definitely need at least a two-stage oil separator, a filter, and a serious air drier. If your glycol back is conveniently located, let me know and I can describe our shade-tree air drier to you. It's definitely cheaper than a refrigerated drier (especially if you do your own fabrication), and works just as well.

Be sure to install a primary pressure regulator immediately after the compressor. This will allow you to run the compressor at its maximum rated pressure, while keeping line pressures safe (we set ours at 90 psi, with the compressor running at 150 psi).

Take a look at the Ingersol-Rand line of rotary vane compressors. Yeah, they're spendy by comparison, but the clean, dry air they produce, and the extremely quiet running (I can rarely hear ours over the other shop noises), make them very practical in the long run.

Ours does not have the refrigerated air drier option, but there is never any water or oil in the separator/filter. We still use the drier we have, but it accumulates very little condensate (a few tbs/day compared to several quarts/day with the recip. comp).

Yes, please describe how you tie in the glycol back.
