  • Brewer+ position in Montana.

Philipsburg Brewing Company is looking for a brewer with good mechanical skills and a desire to help us grow.

    THE TOWN:
Philipsburg, Montana is a town of 800 nestled in the shadow of the Continental Divide. With easy access to hundreds of thousands of acres of wilderness, a superb local ski hill, and world-class outdoor recreation at your doorstep, Philipsburg is a nature-lover's paradise. The town is quite remote, with long winters, a busy tourist summer, and unlimited opportunities for fun. The town high school boasts a student-teacher ratio of 7:1, crime is low to non-existent, and a tightly-knit community experience permeates everything we do.

    THE BREWERY:
Philipsburg Brewing Company opened its doors in August of 2012. In calendar year 2013 we produced 650 barrels, the vast majority of which was consumed in our tap room. We are looking to grow our distribution via draft and packages when we commission a brand new production brewery this year alongside the tap room brewery. We are looking for someone to grow with us.

    THE JOB:
The assistant brewer will work under the supervision of Head Brewer Mike Elliott and share all duties, including keg washing, cleaning, brewing, brewfesting, and generally having an awesome time while at work.

This new position will allow the brewer to work in two very different spaces: production and brew pub.The brewery and taproom are in the same space, so a friendly countenance and superb customer-service skills are a must. The pub brewhouse is highly manual and the work is extremely physically demanding. Ability to follow procedures is paramount.

The new production brewery will feature draft and package operations, including running a Meheen line. All employees are expected to become proficient in all aspects of brewing and packaging.

    YOU:
The ideal applicant will have some level of formal brewing education, with a BS in Fermentation Science preferred. Experience is desirable but not completely necessary. You probably should enjoy the outdoors and small town living.

Strong mechanical skills preferred; we have some old bottling equipment that needs attention.

Strong microbiology skills preferred; we are setting up a new lab and would love to have someone with QA/QC experience.

Soft drink production experience highly desirable, especially expertise in packaged soda.

You must be able to work in high, low, cold, hot, cramped, expansive, dry, and wet conditions. Must be able to scale ladders, climb stairs, negotiate tight corners, and carry heavy stuff all the while.

Please submit resumes, questions, or comments to mikesbrews@gmail.com

    Cheers!
