  • PKA Recycling

As most breweries who went with PKA kegs, we now have a large stash(over 100) that leak or are otherwise useless. We used to send them back to PKA who apparently recycled them, but communication isn't even an option any more. We have contacted our local recycling facility, and they don't know what to do with them since there is no number stamped into the kegs so they are not sure what type of plastic it is, but then again, we can't even recycle glass in Louisiana. Is anyone aware of:

A facility that is already taking in PKA kegs?
The recycling code for PKA kegs?
Or anything to do with these broken kegs besides turn the bottom into dog dishes with the rest going to a landfill.

    Thanks for any help,

Pretty sure the spears in there are just a standard size threaded sanke, though I've never measured them, could be wrong. Can always vent, remove and reuse/sell the spears, then try to recycle the shells.

Russel, Yeah we remove the spears and they are variable length so we either reuse or scrap them, but still can't figure out to do with the plastic.

Todd, planter boxes not a bad idea, tire fires sound fun, but probably not the most environmentally friendly idea, which is why I am looking into recycling.

      Cheers,

      Derek
