  • Kettle shape and jacket location

I've searched a good bit for some concise info on kettle shaoe, design and locations for jackets. We currently trying to commission our new steam kettle and having a few issues, some are steam related but we also have an issue of water on the top of the 10bbl volume is boiling, but the water at the bottom of the tank is still ambient temp, the only way to balance out the temp is to use a precariously placed 'whirlpool' inlet, above the liquid surface, coming in from the top of the tank.

I don't know much on the kettle design side of things, and am wondering if this problem is an issue with the design or should it rectify itself when our steam boiler issues are sorted out? Instinct says its a design problem....

    Any input would be great
