  • Malt Mill Pulley Issue

We have a pulley in our malt mill where the set screw continues to loosen causing the pulley to wobble (becomes unbalanced). We have tried locktight on it several times (blue and red) and it constantly comes out. Any ideas on how to get the set screw to stay or replacements pulleys which have a better securing system? Any help or ideas is much appreciated

have to cleaned the screw and pulley of oxidation? that might be why the loctite isn't adhering. If that dosn't work call grainger and order new pulleys.

Will bet you already need new pulley. If it has wobbled a couple of times the inside diameter is more than likely worn and nothing will keep the set screw in place if the pulley is not snug on the shaft. Order new pulley and put good locktite on set screw after cleaning any maching oil off the new set screw and threads.

        Use a better sheave...

Look at the better systems of hub + sheave. The hub is designed to grip the shaft better and it is a taper fit to the sheave. These are a much better way to go.
