Highland Brewing Company is seeking an experienced Facilities and Maintenance Engineer to join the team in our exciting hill-top brew house and meadow complex. This role plays an integral part in the future of our organization and will contribute at a high level as we continue our growth and expansion plans.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Plant Facilities and Maintenance Engineer
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Director of Operations
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for facility/equipment and plant projects and for assisting the Head Brewer, Packaging Manager, and Director of Operations, in maintaining, implementing and improving systems critical to brewery operations
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Checks critical brewery systems daily
• Maintains boiler
• Maintains HVAC, including air conditioning, refrigeration, and glycol chiller systems
• Assists in implementing and maintaining mechanical, plumbing, process, electrical, pneumatic, VFDs, PLCs, and other electronic equipment
• Establishes a CMMS or similar system for work orders and preventive maintenance
• Establishes and maintains a spare parts inventory
• Works with Head Brewer to maintain brewhouse equipment and new installations
• Works with Packaging Supervisor to maintain packaging equipment and assist in new installations
• Ensures maintenance of company vehicles, including forklifts and Sprinters and keeps regulatory items pertaining to those vehicles current
• Works with Director of Operations, Senior Vice President, Head Brewer, and Packaging Manager to design and implement new equipment installations
• Works with management team to contribute to long-term strategic planning
• Ensures the efficient and safe operation of all equipment
• Maintains a safe work environment in accordance with regulations and Highland standards
• Maintains a clean and orderly workshop and work station
• Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Bachelor Degree Mechanical Engineering or related field, preferred
Experience:
• Minimum of two years of relevant technical experience
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Process engineering
• Systems analysis
• Fabrication, mechanical, electrical, logic, and troubleshooting skills
• Knowledge of steam principles, HVAC, compressed air, boiler, automotive, fluid dynamics and brewery process
• Thorough understanding of safety regulations and proper safety procedures, including lock out/tag out and other required safety protocols
• Ability to work with outside contractors, obtain quotes, and execute capital projects
• Understanding of safety regulations and proper safety procedures, including lock out/tag out and other required safety protocols
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently with limited direction and within a team environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Computer proficiency
Working Conditions:
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and do physically demanding work is required.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. is required.
• Willingness to work on and around potentially dangerous equipment/machinery is required.
• Willingness to work in an environment with high noise levels is required.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends and respond to emergencies is required.
