Karl Strauss Brewing Company is looking to add a Bottling Line Operator/Warehouse Assistant to our growing team! The Bottling Line/Warehouse Assistant assists with, and provides support to, all aspects of the bottling line, warehouse, and logistics departments as necessary.

Essential Functions & Duties:
Packaging Duties
- Operates the main brewery’s bottling and kegging line(s) following all established policies and procedures.
- Performs daily clean-up and maintenance of the equipment and floors in the bottling line and warehouse areas.
- Monitors cleaning cycles for proper concentration, pressures, and efficiency.
- Analyzes the brewery and bottling line equipment, components, raw materials, and end products communicating recommendations for change accordingly.
- Hooks up correct bright tanks aseptically; isolates brands to result in minimal losses.
- Keeps the line running in an efficient manner; minimizing lost production time.
- Using the forklift, unloads empty cooperage or other loads as requested.
- Coordinates with the Warehouse Manager regarding the prompt storage of full kegs and delivery of empty kegs to the kegging area.
- Sanitizes the beer lines and ensures the packaging equipment is ready for the next day’s production.
- Maintains and rebuilds cooperage as needed.
- Complies with all safety and health regulations.
Driving and Warehouse Duties
- Assists in the daily operations of the warehouse including shipping, receiving and organization.
- Using the forklift, loads and unloads company merchandise, beer, and mail into the company vehicles, in accordance with safety standards.
- Organizes and maintains the cold storage area for the main brewery.
- Performs routine cleaning and maintenance tasks including the cleaning of tanks, brewery floors, mill room, packaging areas, brew house, spent grain area and other locations as needed.
- Assists the Warehouse Manager in loading and unloading shipments of beer as needed.
- Assists the Distribution Manager with transporting materials to the 5965 warehouse as directed.
- Using company vehicles, assists with route deliveries as necessary; adhering to designated routes, delivery schedules, and delivery policies & procedures.
- Effectively and safely operates a forklift and/or hand truck to transport company products.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned by the Equipment Maintenance and Packaging Supervisor.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years experience working in a production or packaging facility, or with filling, labeling, and crowing equipment.
- Works well independently and cooperatively with others.
- Strong communication skills spanning all levels within the organization.
- Mechanical aptitude for equipment repairs and trouble shooting.
- Must maintain a valid California driver’s license and be insurable on the Company’s automobile insurance policy.
- Ability to follow directions, read maps, and ask for assistance when necessary.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate for seasonal production demands.
- Forklift certification preferred.
Physical Demands

- Non-slip shoes with reinforced toes are required to be worn at all times while in the brewery/warehouse.
- Chemical resistant gloves and/or boots are required to be worn at all times while working with chemicals.
- Hearing protection and safety glasses are required to be worn in the specified areas in the brewery.
- Requires frequent trips up and down stairs, bending, stooping, and/or twisting, and mobile dexterity to manipulate small tools and machinery.
