  • Brewmaster in Austin/Hill Country: Want to head your own operation?

My husband and I have an 8,000-square-foot barn on a 30-acre property right on Highway 290 between Austin and Dripping Springs. This is an area that is quickly becoming a brewing and distilling mecca. Jester King, Thirsty Planet, Twisted X, Deep Eddy Vodka and Treaty Oak Spirits are all located nearby and more are coming.

We love craft beers and believe this is a great spot to open a brewery. We are looking for a brewmaster with good credentials and at least 3 to 5 years experience who wants to run his or her own operation. We have capital we would invest to get the brewery off the ground if we find the right person with the right approach. We would be silent investors--not the ones running the show.

The barn is surrounded by fat live oaks and sits on a ridge with nice Hill Country views. It has a nice place for a tasting room and plenty of upstairs office space. Outside of the building is lots of room for picnic tables and fire pits under the trees, where customers could hang out with kids and dogs.

The property has the best of both worlds. There’s a great Hill Country feel, tucked away 250 yards off the highway, but also plenty of visibility. With the long stretch of 290 frontage, a brewery could put up good signage to attract the attention of more than 24,000 cars per day.

There is also a farmhouse on the property--and we are talking to a few restaurants about leasing it as a separate business. The idea is that the restaurant and the brewery would have a symbiotic relationship, with each helping the other's business.
